Concert to commemorate the 1956 Revolution in Riga

The Embassy of Hungary in Riga is celebrating the 60th anniversary of 1956 Revolution by a concert and reception in Riga on 26 October at the Great Gilde Concert Hall.

The piano concert, which was sponsored by the Memorial Committee for the 1956 Revolution, was the closing ceremony of the Hungarian Days in Riga, where the attendants were addressed by Ambassador of Hungary Adrien Müller and emphasized the significance of 1956 both in the national and international setting. She expressed her gratitude to those Latvians who demonstrated solidarity with the heroes of 1956. She also stressed that the exhibition of the House of Terror Museum, Budapest titled "For Freedom and Independence” is open to visitors at the National Library of Latvia in Riga. The piano concert by the outstanding Hungarian pianist Balázs Fülei, which included the piano recitals of the world-famous Hungarian composers Bartók, Liszt and Kodály, was received with a standing ovation.
