Photo exhibition on the 1956 revolution in Moscow

A photo exhibition titled “The fortnight of Hungarian freedom” opened in Moscow on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the 1956 Revolution and Freedom Fight. The exhibition is open to visitors from 3rd October in the Memorial Centre as the first part of the program series of the Hungarian Embassy in Moscow.

At the opening ceremony of the exhibition, János Balla, Ambassador of the Hungarian Republic to the Russian Federation emphasized the significant role of the 1956 Revolution and Freedom Fight in the Hungarian history, which was the ultimate expression of desire for freedom of the Hungarian people even if the resistance against the foreign oppressor could only achieve its aim at the time of the regime change.

The ambassador also thanked the Russian partners who cooperated in organizing the event and collected the photographs. Balla János added that he considers their help a proof of pragmatic Russian- Hungarian relationship, which does not hold a grudge. After the opening ceremony the documentary “Play your own game” was shown to the audience.
